Hong Kong documents, and the name that has to match

The HKID is the standard photo identity document and it carries both an English and a Chinese name. It does not carry your residential address, so proof of address is a second document: a bank statement, a utility bill or a government letter, usually recent, in the same name.

The trap is spelling rather than paperwork. Many Hong Kong residents have a passport spelling, an HKID romanisation and a commonly used English name that are not identical. Pick the passport spelling, use it on the trading account, and make sure the bank account you will eventually withdraw to carries the same spelling. Deposits rarely care. Withdrawals do, and a name mismatch is the single most common reason a payout sits in review while support asks for another document.

Do this before you fund, not after your first profitable week. Changing the name on a verified account is a slower process than opening one. Funding routes are on deposits, and first week covers what to check once the account opens. August 2026.
